Introduction
WRGP 88.1 FM has served as the principal broadcaster of FIU Athletics ever since our inception in the Fall of 1999. We serve as the only broadcaster of Golden Panthers' Baseball and Men's and Women's Soccer. We also broadcast Men's and Women's Basketball and Football.
As a student-run radio station, FIU students do all of the work on-air and off-air. By becoming a sponsor, you would help these students learn the fine art of sports broadcasting, and possibly help launch a career. Many broadcasters get their start by covering games for their college radio station. The late Jack Buck (St. Louis Cardinals' broadcaster) was one such person - he got his start calling games for Ohio State's college radio station.
Additionally, you would help FIU's Athletic programs receive the medium coverage they deserve. Sponsorship money allows Radio Golden Panther to broadcast these games. Without them, it becomes very difficult to give coverage to FIU's Athletics programs. To find out more about these programs, you can visit the FIU Sports website at http://www.fiusports.com.
Listening Area
Our signal originates from the NBC6 broadcast tower in Homestead. This allows us to be heard from the North Florida Keys to FIU's University Park campus.
On-Air Coverage
We currently cover over 90 games of FIU Athletics every year.
In addition to our live game coverage, we have 'Panther Talk', which is our FIU Sports Talk show. The show runs at various times throughout the week. For exact times, visit the main page.
We are also involved in 'WRGP Reports', which covers the latest news going on in FIU. There is a one-minute part in the report where we give you the latest on what's going on in FIU Athletics. This report runs at various times throughout the week.
